Arsenal made light work of Newcastle United at the St. James Park on match-day 34 of the English Premier League on Sunday.
African duo, Mohammed ElNeny and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang scored a goal each to propel the Gunners to a 2-0 win over the Magpies.
Egyptian international, ElNeny smashed home the opener inside Newcastle’s goal area after the Toons failed to clear Aubameyang’s cross on the 6th minutes.
The Gunners, who have been inconsistent in the premiership held on to the slim lead going into the break.
Back from recess, Arsenal managed to hold on to the occasional insurgence of Newcastle United who equally failed to bury the few opportunities created.
Mikel Arteta’s side needed the win badly as their current position will likely take them out of Europe next season.
The record English FA Cup holders increased the tally at St. James Park on the 66th minute mark.
Gabriel Martinelli sent in a cross from the left side of attack which saw Pierre Aubameyang fly to connect beautifully for the Gunners second goal.
Newcastle United were reduced to ten men when Fabian Schaer was sent off with added time to end the game.
Arsenal earned all three points but will not move any farther than the 9th position with 49 points.
Chances of Arsenal playing in Europe next season looks unlikely unless they win the Europa league which looks an arduous task.
The Gunners are 2-1 disadvantaged against Villarreal from the Europa League first leg semifinals.
