Legon Cities FC remained in the relegation zone after losing 1-0 to Asante Kotoko in match-day 22 in Accra on Saturday.
Kotoko’s goal came following a superb free kick swept in by Brazilian import, Fabio Gama which was fractionally connected by Augustine Okrah with just 13 minutes played.
The goal eventually separated the two sides and Legon Cities coach, Bashir Hayford admits his side was punished by a momentary loss of concentration.
“I think it was a very tough game, having lost a match and coming to this game the determination was very high.
“We also felt that we are lying on the league table is not comfortable for us at all, we also needed the points badly.
“The game, the difference is the goal and you could see it was not a tactical work but just a free kick and the people miscalculated it and it was there, that made the difference.
“There were a few chances that we didn’t take it not the story would have been different.
“That is football, you make a mistake and you are punished.
“When you make a mistake I also punish you.
“I think they punished us for the loss of concentration and they were able to cover their back when they made a mistake.
“We will put it behind and then forge ahead.” Bahsir Hayford said.
Legon Cities spent big in the last transfer window by roping in former Black Stars skipper, Asamoah Gyan.
Gyan’s acquisition is however yet to yield fruits on the field of play with the striker yet to play a full ninety minutes.
The Royals have gathered 23 points from 22 matches and lie 16th on the league table.
