Ghana has been yearning for a major trophy be it at the continental or global level for a very long time.
The Black Stars has failed to win the Africa Cup of Nations for the past 39 years.
The last time Ghana laid a hand on the AFCON trophy was in 1982 in Libya.
Ever since, Ghana has made three final appearances in the 1992, 2010 and the 2015 editions.
Italian based forward, Emmanuel Gyasi says, it will be worthwhile to win a trophy for Ghana.
“Ghana are a strong National team, a good mix of interesting young prospects and more experienced players. The manager and his staff are very prepared too,” Gyasi told the BBC.
“Ghana have played several World Cups and Africa Cups of Nations: our dream and that of our fans is to win the trophy.
“We know it won’t be easy and we will have to think game by game, but we’ll go there to make our dreams come true. We have to believe in ourselves.” He added.
Emmanuel Gyasi who plies his trade with Spezia, made his first Black Stars appearance in the 2021 qualifiers against South Africa in a 1-1 draw at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
The Black Stars are four time winners of the Africa Cup of Nations in 1963,1965,1978 and the 1982 editions.
Ghana has played at the FIFA World Cup three consecutive times.
A debut appearance in Germany 2006 and then a second successive show in South Africa 2010 where Ghana had its best performance, finishing in the quarter finals.
The Stars were eventually eliminated by Uruguay via the penalty shootouts.
The national team’s last appearance in Brazil 2014 was marred by monetary issues where they got eliminated from the group stage in a worse outing.
The Black Stars have already qualified for the 2021 AFCON to be staged in Cameroon next year with the World Cup qualifiers expected to soon kick start.
