Algerian international, Riyad Mahrez has disclosed that the entire squad had to give off their all to beat Paris St. Germain.
The Citizens went past PSG in a 2-0 win at the Etihad in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals on Tuesday.
The win meant City finished on 4-1 aggregate over two legs to qualify for their first ever Champions League finals.
Mahrez, 30 , got all two goals to propel his side and he says the entire team went all out.
“They [PSG] had to come at us so sometimes it was a bit deeper and then they lose the ball, we are good at counter as well and that’s how the two goals came and we happy,” Mahrez said.
Mahrez has been commenting on goalkeeper Ederson’s long range pass that resulted in City’s first goal.
On the 60-yard pass which brought about the opening goal, Mahrez admits it is a daily training routine which paid off against PSG.
“It’s something we work on all the time and today [against PSG] it worked good so it’s good.
“When you play Champions League semi finals, you have to be solid and everyone has to be solid, everyone has to contribute defensively and that’s what we did.
“I think we were very solid today, we didn’t concede much and that why we are in the final.” Mahrez added.
Mahrez tapped in the first goal on the 11th minute from close range after Kevin De Bruyne’s blocked shot lingered around PSG’s goal area.
He was laid up for the second goal by Phil Foden on the 63rd minute which he easily scored.
City await the winner between Chelsea and Real Madrid for the final to be staged in Istanbul, Turkey on May 29.
