There is a tinge of hope for Ghana premier league strugglers, Legon Cities FC after dispatching Liberty Professionals at the Accra Sports Sports Stadium.
The Royals defeated the Scientific Soccer Lads 2-1 in the week 24 of the 2020/21 Ghana premier league.
Having languished at the bottom of the league table for months, head coach of the side, Bashir Hayford says the win against Liberty showed that the players were poised to stay afloat.
“I think the temperament of the boys [helped us win], we have been talking a lot.
“They were poised, they all agreed that where we are lying does auger well for us at all so we should make sure try and push ourselves forward.
“And so they were prepared to fight, I will say that it was the fighting spirit that gave us the victory.
“Because the boys fought very very hard.” Bashir Hayford said.
Legon Cities FC have now moved a notch out of the relegation zone after week 24 matches.
They lie 15th on the league table with 26 points, one more than Liberty Professionals in 16th.
King Faisal and Inter Allies follow in 17th and 18th with 23 and 20 points respectively.
