Italian club, Spezia have heaved a sigh of relief following the retention of their Serie A status.
Spezia, who are into their first ever Serie A season, thumped struggling Torino 4-1 at home on match day 36.
The result keeps Spezia in 15th with 38 points with a game to end the season for them.
They are safe from relegation regardless of the remaining results for Cagliari, Torino and Benevento who are below them in the standing.
Ghana international, Emmanuel Gyasi who has been instrumental for the side, could not hide his joy after their Serie A status was retained.
“When the going gets tough. Remember why you started. Never stop dreaming, have strength to fight, patience to persist because that is the moment destiny will change. We made history again. Proud. SERIE AAA…,” he posted on Social Media.
A brace from M’bala Nzola with the other goals coming from Ricardo Saporano and Martin Erlic kept Spezia in the Italian top flight for next season.
Spezia were promoted via the play-off in the 2019/20 season for the first time in the club’s history.
It will be a great relief to the club and it’s teeming fans as they will taste yet another season in the top flight next term.
