Ghana striker, Abdul Basit Khalid is knocking hard on the doors of the senior national team, the Black Stars.
The sturdily built striker is eying a place in coach Charles Akonnor’s squad for the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon next year.
The over 6 feet tall striker spoke to Sportsworldghana.
“I wish I get the chance to represent Ghana, it will be a great honor,” Basit told Sportsworldghana.com
“The dream of every player is to play for his national team and that is my target also.” He added.
Basit has not disappointed since joining Esperance in January from Gjorce Petrov of Macedonia.
His efforts alongside his team mates led to the crowning of the Black and Gold as Tunisian Ligue 1 Champions.
The former Dreams FC striker has been an important member of Esperance squad in this season’s CAF Champions League.
It remains to be seen if the 24-year-old’s service will be needed by coach Akonnor who has an array of strikers to fall on for the next Africa Cup of Nations.
Akonnor has an arduous task of winning the continental trophy that has eluded Ghana for 39-years.
