Ex-Ghana goalkeeper, Abukari Damba has advised Kotoko keeper, Felix Annan not to lose the number spot for the second time.
Annan was Kotoko’s number one for several seasons up until the truncated 2019/20 league season.
The 2020/21 league season saw Kwame Baah oust Annan after four matches in post.
The 26-year-old had not kept for Kotoko since November, 2020 with Baah subsequently losing his position to Razak Abalora.
Annan, who is Kotoko fans’ favorite returned to post for the first time in six months after Abalora was dropped for week 26 game against WAFA for no apparent reason.
His return was however bitter when he conceded a goal in Kotoko’s 1-1 draw against WAFA at the Len Clay Stadium.
Damba has charged Felix Annan to grab the second opportunity with the necessary seriousness.
“Felix Annan is very hungry to perform, he needs the opportunity.
“Now the opportunity has come, he has to grab it with both hands, both legs, his stomach and head and every part of his body to show that he is still Felix Annan.
“The moment he [Felix Annan] performs, Abalora will have to join the queue of reserve goalkeepers.
“This is the time to see whether Abalora can endure what Felix Annan went through.
“So it is a vicious circle and that is why I always believe in one thing.
“Goalkeepers at the same level, I will give them opportunities and rotate them depending on the situation and the circumstances so that non of them feels inferior.
“If Kotoko did that, I don’t think this situation would arise.” Damba told Oyerepa fm.
It is very likely Annan will keep the number spot for a longer period as Razak Abalora has been “mistake prone” in the past games.
