Karela United midfielder, Umar Bashiru has admitted that the 2020/21 Ghana premier league season has been tough so far.
Bashiru has been a mainstay in midfield for the Anyinase based club who have had a respectable run in the ongoing season.
Bashiru, who joined Karela as a free agent in the 2019/20 league season, made the comments in an interview with Adamu Muftawu of Africa-Foot.com.
“I think this league is very very difficult, it’s one of the toughest league on the continent.
“You could see at the table we have about five or six clubs fighting for the title.
“At the bottom, we also have five or six clubs fighting for survival.
“So this league is very very tough in terms of the physical aspect of it and intensity.
“It’s very very great.” Umar Basiru told Adamu Muftawu.
Karela United made a good start to the 2020/21 season after struggling in the previous term.
Coach Evans Adotey has been able to shape the side with attack spearheaded by Diawusie Taylor who leads the scorers chat with 15 goals.
Umar Bashiru has been key with his edge cutting passes to his attackers.
The lanky midfielder has previously played for WAFA and Asante Kotoko.
Karela currently lie 5th on the league table with 42 points from 26 matches.
They held Berekum Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at the Golden City Park in match day 26.
They will next play Great Olympics at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park in the week 27 fixture on Friday, May 28.
