Hearts of Oak midfielder, Benjamin Afutu says he has seen a tremendous improvement under head coach, Samuel Boadu.
Afutu has been a key member of the Phobians’ midfield in the run up to their five straight wins in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.
He put up a “most valuable” player show in Hearts of Oak’s 2-0 win over Berekum Chelsea in match day 27 at the Accra Sports Stadium last Sunday.
The 25-year-old hails coach Samuel Boadu for sharpening his rough edges.
“Ever since coach [Samuel Boadu] came, I had met somewhere before.
“So when he came he already knew how I played.
“And when he came, he pushed me hard at training.
“The push ensured I began doing things I could not do before.
“The pressure from coach makes me push harder.
“That’s what has helped me in my game so far.” Benjamin Afutu said.
Afutu has so far won two man-of-the-match awards this season.
He was adjudged best player after scoring in the 2-0 win over Berekum Chelsea and after a sterling performance against Elmina Sharks in weeks 27 and 25.
He was in action when Hearts of Oak cruised into round 32 of the FA Cup with a 3-0 win over Liberty Professionals at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
Hearts of Oak lead the league table with 49 points, two better than sworn rivals, Kotoko.
The Phobians have a regional derby against Great Olympics in match day 28 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday June 6.
