Asante Kotoko midfielder, Fabio Gama says they had to play above themselves to beat AshantiGold in match day 28.
The Brazil import scored the only goal of the game in the 22nd minute after connecting a header from Patrick Asmah on the left side of attack.
The goal is Gama’s 3rd in the 2020/21 Ghana premier league season.
The 28-year-old, who was adjudged man-of-the-match, admits the Miners came tough.
“Tough game for everybody.
“They have a good team, so we had to show more to get the win today.
“They have a good team, I told the coach [Thomas Duah], so they are young boys and they will fight to the end.
“So they are good and we had to improve more to get the win today.” Fabio Gama said.
The win over AshantiGold sent the Porcupine Warriors on 50 points, same as rivals Hearts of Oak who were held by Great Olympics to a 1-1 draw at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Kotoko however trail the Phobians on goal difference in the top two race.
Their next journey is down south to face Inter Allies at the Dawu Park in match day 29.
