Aduana Stars forward, Yahaya Mohammed has called on the Ghana football fraternity to measure the heavy criticism on goalkeeper Razak Abalora.
The Asante Kotoko shot stopper replaced Black Stars number one, Richard Ofori in Ghana’s international friendly against Morocco in Rabat.
Unfortunately for the former WAFA goalkeeper, he committed a horrible blunder that gifted the Atlas Lions a 1-0 win over the Black Stars on Tuesday.
A cross sent in by substitute, Hakim Ziyech was poorly dealt with by Abalora which allowed another substitute, Jawad El Yamiq to head home the only goal and the winner.
Yahaya Mohammed believes it is rather time to encourage the former Azam FC goalkeeper rather than “kill” his spirit.
“We have other goalkeepers who can be called upon to man the post.
“But for now, it’s [Razak] Abalora and Richard Ofori who are available.
“We are going a tournament [2021 AFCON], are we now going to build the confidence of a new goalkeeper for the tournament.?
“Razak Abalora has already built his confidence having played a couple of matches.
“So the technical team must help Razak Abalora correct the mistakes.
“The psychologist and the technical team must help him and even his spiritual aspect must be checked.
“I think if we help and encourage Razak Abalora, we will have a future with him.
“If we take him out of the post or team, we are still stagnated, so let’s keep him and help him correct his mistakes and build his confidence.” Yahaya Mohammed Africa-foot.com
Razak Abalora has come under sharp criticism after committing similar blunder against São Tomé in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.
The Black Stars will play Ivory Coast at the Cape Coast Stadium in their second international friendly.
