As reported exclusively by Africa-foot.com on June 8 of Benjamin Bernard Boateng not giving up on his 10-goal target, the Elmina Sharks forward lighted the fire towards that feat on Friday.
The lanky forward scored twice at the Nduom Stadium as Sharks defeated strugglers, Eleven Wonders 2-1 in match day 29.
Bernard Boateng , 21, shot Sharks into a quick lead with just two minutes played in the 2020/21 Ghana premier league.
Three minutes after netting the first goal, he was on the second for Sharks in the 5th minute which they held on into the break.
Eleven Wonders fought back earnestly in a bid to redeem the deficits but could only pull one back through Ganiu Abass in the 52nd minute.
Boateng was happy to have scored his seventh goal of the season.
“Coming into this game [against Eleven Wonders], we were determined because it was a very tough game.
“So we took it as a final game so scoring my seventh goal, I’m very happy, I’m so excited,” Benjamin Bernard Boatend told Africa-foot.com.
Prior to starting the season, Boateng set a 10-goal target and is now three goals away from reaching the feat.
Asked whether he could reach the height with five games left in the season, the “mosquito” as he is known by fans, is confident.
“Surely with my determination, I will reach my ten goals.
“Sure, sure and hard work, I will reach my ten goals.” Benjamin Bernard Boateng told Africa-foot.com.
The dark skinned and soft spoken forward grappled with injuries at the beginning of the season but has now regained his form after shaking off the challenges.
The 2-1 win over Wonders is Sharks’ first in as many as six games.
The victory pushes them a notch out of the drop zone into 14th with 34 points after 29 games.
They are however not completely safe as Liberty Professionals [33 points] are yet to play against Aduana Stars and a win will bring Sharks back into relegation struggles.
