Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Mariano Baretto has criticized the poor nature of the Dawu Park [pitch] after their nerve wracking win over Inter Allies.
The Portuguese trainer asserts that, the pitch does not merit approval let alone qualify for a league match venue.
The Porcupine Warriors defeated bottom club, Inter Allies 3-2 in match day 29 at the Theater of Dreams on Monday.
With Kotoko losing two players [Abdul Ganiu and Evans Adomako] to injury in that game, Mariano Baretto has charged authorities to take a second look at the quality of the Dawu pitch.
“After Evans [Adomako] got another injury, the pitch is not good.
“I don’t understand how this pitch can be approved for a league match and topping this, we win.
“Sometimes when we lose we say some excuse, no!.
“This field [Dawu Park] don’t have any conditions to play a league match.
“And I hope the Federation and the people who gave the permission have to think in the security of the players.
“It’s not only blaming players that they are not playing well, it’s difficult with this kind of pitch.” Mariano Baretto said.
Inter Allies and Dreams FC share the same venue for the 2020/21 league season and it is likely the pressure from games is mounting on the pitch.
Kotoko have 53 points, same as Hearts of Oak but trail their rivals on goal difference.
