A number of clubs were tipped to win the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League judging from their pre-season engagements and performances. Medeama SC, Asante Kotoko, a little of Hearts of Oak but mainly Great Olympics were named as clubs to claim this season’s league title. Seeing Great Olympics’ performance against Liberty Professionals in a pre-season friendly at the Carl Reindorf Park sent football pundits already tipping the “Dade Boys” for the title. The likes of captain, Gladson Awako, Michel Otou, Philip Sackey and bulky striker Mannan Mudasiru, just to mention a few painted a quality picture about the two time Ghana Premier League winners prior to the start of the season. Great Olympics produced great results in their pre-season both away and at their training grounds, the LA McDan Park in Teshie.
It is not surprising that head coach of the side, Annor Walker has shaped the club into not just title contenders but a force to be reckoned with in this season’s league. Great Olympics had suffered countless relegations following misunderstandings among the club’s shareholders and the top hierarchy. However, Coach Annor Walker has brought a renaissance to the club since his appointment. The club’s top hierarchy have now mended their misunderstanding and have got things rolling for the club.
