One cannot begrudge Hearts of Oak winger, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh’s wild celebration after winning his first domestic trophy with the Phobians.
As a player who was rejected by Asante Kotoko while on trial, he has every right to go “berserk” following the Phobians’ 2020/21 title glory after an 11-year wait.

Barnieh’s first half header sent the Phobians ahead of Liberty Professionals in their penultimate clash at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Paul Kwame however scored with three minutes to end the game to finish at 1-1 for Liberty. The result however gave Hearts of Oak their first title in over a decade after Kotoko lost 2-1 at Bechem United.

The 2021 CAF U-20 AFCON winner was left on cloud nine.
“It [the league] means a lot [to us] and I feel very very happy because it’s been a while that Hearts won this trophy.
“We have written our names in the [good] books.” Afriyie Barnieh said.
The 20-year-old joined Hearts of Oak from Madina Republicans and quickly settled down to life with the capital based club.

His only goal separated the Phobians and Asante Kotoko in their match day 31 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Hearts of Oak will wrap up the season with an away game against WAFA at the Sogakope Park on Sunday, July 18.
