West Africa Football Academy defender, Youssifou Atte says they wanted to write their names in history books hence the urge to beat 2020/21 league winners, Hearts of Oak in Sogakope Park.

WAFA marred the coronation of league winners, Hearts of Oak at the Sogakope Park on the final day of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.

Hearts of Oak were bent on completing a 14-match unbeaten run under coach Samuel Boadu but the Academy boys halted their 13-games successive winning run.

Togolese import, Youssifou Atte curled in a sweet free kick in the second half to beat Benjamin Mensah in post for Hearts of Oak.

The 25-year-old right back talks about their high flying performance at the end of the season.

“During the week to face Hearts of Oak, the coach told us that, it [against Hearts] was a must win.

“Because we also want to write our history so we must not lose the match.

“We were determined to win the match.” Youssifou Atte said.

The victory meant that WAFA will finish third on the league log with the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season closed.

WAFA raked home an impressive 56 points ahead of top clubs like, Medeama SC, Great Olympics, Aduana Stars, Karela United and AshantiGold.
