Head coach of Hasaacas Ladies, Yusif Basigi is confident of qualifying his ladies for the semi finals of the maiden CAF Women’s Champions league despite a jerky start.
Nigeria Women’s Premier League club, Rivers Angels reigned supreme over Ghana champions, Hasaacas Ladies in the maiden CAF Women’s Champions League opening qualifier on Saturday.
Rivers Angels nailed Hasaacas Ladies 2-0 at the Stade Robert de Champroux in Ivory Coast to take a step towards the semi finals.
The Nigerians drew their first goal in the first half from Debora Abiodum with 17 minutes played.
Angels doubled their lead in the second half with Maryann Ezenagu in the 52nd minute.

“It is our intention to qualify for the next stage so by all means we must win [the next game], it’s a must win for us in the next game which will see us to the semi finals.
“Our mind is to win the next game because we came in to win this one [against Rivers Angels] but very unfortunately we couldn’t.
“We have a very big match at stake in order to win to advance to the next stage.
“I know it’s going to be tough, we are not underestimating any club because any club because all the clubs that are here are good, they are the champions of their various countries, that’s why we’ve all merged here so we are not ruling them out that they are not good.
“And this is our determination, we are going all out to win in order to advance to the next stage, that is our mindset.” Yusif Basigi said.
The top two teams from Group A and B in the WAFU B Zonal will progress to the semi-finals.
And the winners of the semi-finals automatically qualify as representatives of the zone for the tournament proper.
Hasaacas Ladies will clash with AS Police de Niamey after drawing a bye in their last group game on July 29 and will be hoping to secure a win that will enhance their chances of a semifinal place.
The Women’s Champions League is a competition introduced by CAF to develop women’s football.
