Hearts of Oak defender, Caleb Amankwah says the free kick he scored against Elmina Sharks is his trademark.
The Phobians inched closer to claiming a domestic double after beating Elmina Sharks 1-0 at the Nduom Stadium to reach the semi finals of the MTN FA Cup.
A game that was stretched to the elastic limit, saw the full time end with no goals recorded between the 2020/21 Ghana league champions and the relegation survivors.
The 2000 CAF Champions League winners however left it late to claim the win after defender, Caleb Amankwah swept in a free kick on the 107 minutes.
Caleb Amankwah said of his trademark, “It’s [free kick] something I do often even at training grounds but I hardly get playing time and moreover there are free kick takers.
“But when we had this one I told them to allow me take it because I knew how I would score from that.” Caleb Amankwah said.
It was the second time Hearts of Oak defeated Elmina Sharks in two months, first in the premier league at the Accra Sports Stadium in the second round.
The Phobians, who will represent Ghana at the 2021/22 CAF Champions League will play Medeama SC they beat lower tier club, Attram de Visser in the quarter finals.
The Phobians finished last season’s league with 61 points, four better than second place and arch rivals, Asante Kotoko.
