Ghana winger, Seth Paintsil’s debut for Austria club, TSV Hartberg ended in a defeat after they lost 2-1 at home to Altach in the second week fixture.
Paintsil replaced Philipp Sturm just in the beginning of the first half of their game at the Profertil Arena Hartberg on Saturday.
Kurt Russ’ side fell twice in 12 minutes of the first half with goals from Manuel Thurnwald’s 16th minute opener.
Sandi Krizman increased the tally for Altach on the 28th minutes to make the game difficult for Hartberg at home.
Back from recess, Hartberg pulled a goal back from Dario Tadic on the 81st minutes but it was little too late to rescue a home point.
Seth Paintsil, who joined Hartberg on a 2-year-deal as a free agent, gave a good account of himself.
The 25-year-old had a rocky season last term after he was overlooked for several matches by his former club side, SV Ried.
The former BA United winger made just 11 appearances scoring a goal plus two assists.
Paintsil has played for the defunct Red Bull Soccer Academy in Ghana.
He spent some time at BA United of Ghana, Finnish side, FC Jaro and Austrian clubs, Admira Wacker and SV Ried where he last played.
