Obuasi AshantiGold are determined to make up for their poor performance in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League by winning the 2020/21 MTN FA Cup.
The Miners are in the finals of the competition after putting four goals past Berekum Chelsea who replied once in the semi finals at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday, August 1.
Having finished 9th with 45 points from 34 games last season, coach Thomas Duah believes they must make amends by winning the FA Cup.
“The reason we are determined to win the FA Cup is to make up for our poor standing last season.
“We placed 9th and AshantiGold is not a club meant for the 9th position.
“So we were determined to beat Berekum Chelsea to qualify for the finals and win the cup.” Thomas Duah said.
The one time FA Cup holders will play Hearts of Oak at Accra Sports Stadium in the finals of the FA Cup on Sunday, August 8.
As four time Ghana Champions, they have played twice in the CAF Confederation Cup – first in 2011 and last in 2019 but they failed to glitter in all those appearances.
A return to Africa will be a feather in their cap after losing the CAF Champions League title to Morocco club, Raja Casablanca in 1997 on penalty shootouts.
