A moment that seem right comes in every football club’s history and that moment seems to have raised its head in Accra Hearts of Oak.

The Phobians out of their blocks beat off competition from rivals Asante Kotoko, Medeama, Aduana Stars, Karela United and Great Olympics to claim the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League title.

Hearts 3-0 Medeama

Hearts of Oak gathered 61 points, four better than Asante Kotoko to be crowned champions for the first time in 11 years and to as well lay hands on their 21st league title.

The Phobians, who are 2000 CAF Champions League winners will return to the competition by virtue of their domestic league triumph.

Hearts of Oak celebrate

They have an opportunity to add another trophy to their league title as they get ready to play AshantiGold in the finals of the MTN FA Cup.

Head coach of Hearts of Oak, Samuel Boadu admits the AshantiGold task will come tough.

Caleb Amankwah

“Not easy, playing with AshantiGold, AshantiGold is a good team.

“I don’t think it will be easy but we don’t have problem with AshantiGold but the problem that we have is the three points.

“When you get the three points definitely you get something so I need that three points.” Samuel Boadu said.

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh

Hearts of Oak made light work of Medeama SC, beating them 3-0 at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday, August 1.

Midfielder, Benjamin Afutu’s header plus Isaac Mensah’s strike and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh’s penalty sent the 2001 CAF Super Cup winners into the finals.

Hearts of Oak are the record holders of the FA Cup with 10 cups. They have the CAF Confederation Cup trophy in their wardrobe.
