Ghana’s Women Premier League champions, Hasaacas Ladies wrote their name in gold after winning the maiden edition of WAFU ZONE B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers last Thursday.
The ladies from the Western Region of Ghana, defied a jerky start to their qualifying campaign to claim the title at the Stade Champroux in Ivory Coast.

Hasaacas Ladies stumbled 2-0 in their opener to Nigeria club, Rivers Angels but returned stronger to claim two wins in a row to set up a final against their nemesis, Rivers Angels.
Wins over AS Police from Niger and Union Sportive des Forces Armees from Burkina Faso sent Hasaacas Ladies into the finals.
A spirited performance by coach Yusif Basigi’s side produced a 3-1 finish to win the title and a place in this year’s maiden CAF Women’s Champions League in Egypt.
Chief Executive of the club, Evelyn Nsiah Asare talks about the need for support for the main tournament.

“We [Hasaacas Ladies]will need maximum support because we took a limited number of players to the qualifiers.
“We were also affected by the COVID-19 issues and that was the reason we lost our first game.
“So we need to register about 30 players even though CAF considers only 21 players.

“As we thank the quarters that helped us, we still call for more help.
“We have brought glory to Ghana football, Women football, African football because it is the first of its kind.” Evelyn Nsiah Asare said.
Hasaacas Ladies have now won a treble; the Ghana Women’s Premier League, the FA Cup and now the WAFU ZONE B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers.
