Head coach of the Black Stars, Milovan Rajevac has hailed the qualities and work rate of Swindon Town goalkeeper, Jojo Wollacott.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper was chosen ahead of FC St. Gallen’s Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Hearts of Oak’s Richard Attah for his Black Stars debut against Zimbabwe.
Wollacott concede just a goal in Ghana’s 3-1 victory against the Warriors in the third game of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Cape Coast Stadium on Saturday.

The 1.9 meter tall goalkeeper has received rave reviews from Ghanaian football fans and the media for his technical qualities and calm nature while manning the post for the first time and Black Stars head coach, Milovan Rajevac has also joined the praise train in touting Wollacott’s output.
“First of all it was good scouting and when he arrived he proved himself at the training sessions, he really did a great job, he deserves his chance.
“Today he was at the top of his game and I’m satisfied with his performances and I don’t want to praise goalkeepers too much but he really did a good job today.” Milovan Rajevac said through his interpreter.

The Black Stars of Ghana boosted their chances of qualifying for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup with an emphatic 3-1 victory over Zimbabwe on Saturday at the Cape Coast Stadium.
Ghana wasted no time in opening the score when a resurgent left-back, Baba Rahman laid a pass to Mohammed Kudus who had a quick exchange with Jordan Ayew before striking with his weaker right foot for Ghana’s first goal in the 5th minute. The Black Stars held on to the slim lead moving into the break.
Back from recess, the Warriors of Zimbabwe took the game to the home side and in the 47th minute, Alexander Djiku gave away a penalty to the visitors. The captain of the side, Knowledge Musona made no mistake in planting the ball at the top right hand corner of goalkeeper Jojo Wollacot in post for Ghana in the 49th minute.

The Black Stars however came back stronger and increased their tally to 2-1 when Arsenal midfielder, Thomas Partey beat off his marker before placing the ball well behind the Zimbabwe goalkeeper, Washington Arubi on the 66th minutes.
Captain Andre Ayew, who had been missing in the game right from the blast of whistle, nailed the visitors with third goal. Dede Ayew made the score line 3-1 on the 86th minute when he headed home Baba Rahman’s beautiful cross.
The Black Stars of Ghana have six points from three games, trailing Group G leaders, South Africa by just a point. Ethiopia who were pummeled at home by South Africa, have three points in third with Zimbabwe on no points at the bottom of the group.
Ghana will play the second game of the double header in Harare against the Warriors on Tuesday, October 12.
