Ex-Hearts of Oak defender, Acquah Harrison has thrown light some pointers from the club’s CAF Champions League clash against Morocco giants, Wydad Athletic Club.

Hearts of Oak recorded a slim 1-0 victory over the Casablanca based club at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first leg second preliminary round duel last Sunday.

Ecstatic Hearts players

Isaac Mensah poked in the Phobians first goal on the 41st minute having been assisted by midfield talisman, Ibrahim Salifu.

Accra Hearts of Oak will return for the second leg on October 24 at Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca with the slender advantage and Acquah Harrison first commended the squad for a good display before sending a caution ahead of the second leg.

Salifu Ibrahim winces after missing chance

“I watched the game and I can say since 2003/2004 this is one of the good Hearts Of Oak game’s I have watched.

“The Moroccans are diabolic and they have their strategy when approaching games.

“I will say the one goal Hearts Of Oak scored isn’t enough but in football everything can happen.

Salim Adams

“Hearts Of Oak defensive setup have to be sharp in the return encounter in Morocco.

“Wydad were well prepared with a strategy, because their league is ongoing and it has giving them match fitness.

“Hearts Of Oak need to prepare well for the return encounter even if they exit the competition, they have good team to compete in the Confederation Cup.” He told Service Radio.

Ecstatic Hearts players

Hearts of Oak eliminated Guinea side, Club Industriel de Kamsar by 2-0 over a single leg qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium. The single leg qualifier, originally scheduled over two legs came up due to the civil unrest in West African country.

Hearts of Oak claimed their first and 21st title after the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season and completed a domestic double for the first time in over a two decades with the MTN Cup glory.
