President of the Confederation of Africa Football, Patrice Motsepe has urged the continent to invest in the sport or fail to compete favourably against the best in the world.
The South African business magnate made the call during his two day visit to Ghana for the Youth Connekt Africa Summit where he was the main speaker at the International Conference Centre in Accra on Wednesday.

Africa is yet to win the FIFA World Cup and the picture towards that feat for the continent looks increasingly difficult.
Mr. Motsepe wants a better financial injection into football if the continent has to compete against the best globally.

“We must understand that Africa football will never be able to compete against the best in the world if it isn’t put in a significantly better financial position.
“If it isn’t put in a significantly better funding position.

“We want Europe to do that, we want South America to do that, we want the rest of the world to do that.
“But we also recognize that, there has to be fundamental changes in the way that football throughout the world is conducted.” Patrice Motsepe said.
The best results Africa has ever achieved at the FIFA World Cup are quarter final places for Cameroon, Senegal and Ghana.

This is Dr. Patrice Motsepe’s first visit to Ghana since his election into office as President of CAF in March 2021, succeeding Malagasy, Ahmad Ahmad.
