Karela United midfielder, Umar Bashiru has told Africa-foot.com that he will improve on last term’s performance next season.

In the next three to five days, the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League will come alive with matches across various venues.

One of the MVP awards

Bashiru, was an important element in Karela’s midfield set up which gave other clubs a good run for their money.

The tall and lanky midfielder garnered good numbers in last season’s league with quite an enviable accolades to his credit.

He earned 27 appearances for the Anyinase based club, scoring 3 goals and providing 3 assists in the process.

The former West Africa Football Academy and Asante Kotoko midfielder clocked 4 man-of-the-match awards at the end of last season and is looking forward to improving on that next season which kicks in a matter of days.

“In terms of the performance, I don’t want to say anything that will put a lot of pressure on me.

“But the only thing that I can say is, I will try best and improve in terms of goal scoring, in terms of assists, chance creation and a whole lot of things.

“So I will try to improve and do better than last season.” Umar Bashiru told Africa-foot.com.

Karela United were tipped as title contenders last season but had a poor run of results in the latter of the league, finishing in 8th position with 46 points.

They will open next season’s campaign at home against former champions, Aduana Stars on Sunday, October 31 at 3:00pm Ghana time.

The 18-club league saw Hearts of Oak defy the odds to claim their first and 21st title last season after 11 years in hibernation.
