Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko winger, Richard Mpong has urged the club’s fans to give current head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum more time and room to operate at the club.
The young and intelligent coach signed for the record Ghana Premier League holders in the off-season from West Africa Football Academy in a 2-year deal.

Ogum is expected to turn things around for the club this term after they went the whole of last season without a silverware; missing out on the premier league and the FA Cup titles to arch rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak.

In turning things around for the nine time Ghana FA Cup holders, Richard Mpong who previously starred for now lower tier side, All Black, Medeama SC, Asante Kotoko and Aduana Stars believes the coach needs time and patience to discharge his duties equitably.
“I know Prosper Nartey very well and I believe he can succeed with Kotoko if he is not pressurized.

“The fans should not pressure him to win trophies. He should be given at least 2-3 years to build a formidable side,” Richard Mpong told Koforidua-based Aben FM.
“Ghanaian clubs do not give coaches time and I don’t think that is the best. It is the reason why they struggle at some point in time.” he said.
Prosper Nartey Ogum after his appointment roped in the services of former Liberty Professionals coach, David Ocloo and John Eduafo as his assistants to help steer the affairs of the technical team.

A pre-season in the United Arab Emirates where Asante Kotoko failed to win a single game in three friendlies, will usher them into the Ghana Premier League which kicks off on Friday evening at the Accra Sports Stadium with debutants, Accra Lions hosting Elmina Sharks.
Asante Kotoko will travel down south against Dreams FC in their opening 2021/22 Ghana Premier League fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 30 at 3:00 pm.
