2022 WCQs: Prepare for the worse when you visit Ghana – Mapeza warns South Africa

Caretaker coach of the Zimbabwe National male football team, Norman Mapeza has warned South Africa to prepare for the harsh realities of an away game in their final World Cup qualifier against Ghana.

The Black Stars will host the Bafana Bafana at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday, November 14 to finally determine which country books the next stage of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup slot.

Ghana failed to keep a close chase on South Africa in Group G after 1-1 against Ethiopia in the last but one match at the Orlando Stadium on Thursday.

The 1-1 draw left the four time African champions on 10 points with South Africa on 13 after piping Zimbabwe 1-0 in the penultimate clash in Johannesburg later on Thursday.

The decider is set for Sunday with Ghana needing to score two unanswered goals to qualify for the next phase while South Africa need any form of draw to pull through.

“It’s not gonna be easy, huh, we went to Cape Coast there, guys, psychologically the guys should be ready,” Mapeza said at the post match presser.

“It’s not gonna be easy. I hope you find a training pitch there. There’s nothing!

“It’s not going be easy. I hope though you find a better place to train, but yoh, it’s terrible.” Mapeza added.

Ethiopia v Ghana

Zimbabwe and Ethiopia are out of the race for the World Cup slots. The Warriors who lost a double header to Ghana at the Cape Coast Stadium [3-1] and the National Stadium in Harare [1-0], have 1 point at the bottom of the table with Ethiopia on 4 points in third.

The Warriors will host Ethiopia on Sunday, November 14 at the National Stadium in Harare in a game that is meant for the formalities.
