It takes a lot of courage as a young player to wear Asante Kotoko’s jersey let alone feature in a premier league game.
However, 18-year-old Isaac Oppong has defied the odds and has hit the ground running with the Porcupine Warriors in the 2021/22 Ghana top flight.
Oppong, who joined Kotoko from Sunyani based Second Division Club, Bectaro Sasana in a long term deal, has so far scored two goals in three games.
He climbed off the bench to score his first goal against Dreams FC in Kotoko’s 3-1 come back win at the Accra Sports Stadium in week one.
He fired blanks in week two at the Baba Yara Stadium against Bechem but showed class in the third week with a beautiful curler for Kotoko’s 1-0 win against Gold Stars at the Duns Park in Bibiani on Friday.

Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Prosper Narteh Ogum has given rave reviews about the youngster who continues to hold the club’s fans spellbound with his performance.
“He [Isaac Oppong] is an intelligent player, he is able to read and analyze the game.
“If you look at the way he scored the goal, he just saw a little space there and he just put a spin on the ball and that was it.
“It takes a player with high game intelligence to be able to take that decision within that restricted or limited space in a game.
“So I’m proud of him, he is a young chap, I will talk to him to keep his focus so that he doesn’t become complacent and will be able to deliver as and when he is in the game.” Prosper Narteh said.
Kotoko now have a hundred percent record with three opening wins in the 2021/22 season.
The two time CAF Champions League winners return home for their week four clash against last season’s strugglers, Techiman Eleven Wonders on Friday, November 19.
