The firepower of Bibiani Gold Stars was doused by the coolant of Asante Kotoko in their week the three match of the 2021/22 league season on Friday.
Gold Stars before their third week clash against the Porcupine Warriors at the Duns Park, had picked an impressive four points from two games.
They stunned former premier league champions, Berekum Chelsea 1-0 at home before traveling to the Akoon Park in Tarkwa to hold two time FA Cup holders, Medeama to a 1-1 draw.
With such confidence from their two opening games, Gold Stars were bent on putting the brakes on Kotoko who were coming into the game with two straight wins.
Gold Stars head coach, Michael Osei was looking forward to beating the club he once played for and coached but the 1-0 defeat left him shell shocked.
“This is a very unfortunate game, I mean this is the game we don’t deserve to lose all the three points .
“It was a balanced game I mean we created a lot of chances more than Kotoko but the only small chance that they got they were able to score the goal.
“But it’s part of the game so we have to move on and make sure that we do better in the next game.
“We didn’t play badly, I saw the boys were very determined I mean we were able to create a lot of chances.
“The goal scoring chances that we spoiled, we should have scored one of them.
“We will learn from it and make sure that we do our goal scoring exercise very well and make sure that the next games we can bury our chances.
Gold Stars will travel to the Nduom Stadium as guests of Elmina Sharks in week four on Friday, November 19.
