AshantiGold defender, Kwadwo Amoako has hailed the return of head coach, Thomas Duah to the side.
Amoako was a toast of the Miners and the rest of the fans present at the Len Clay Stadium in their 2-0 victory over defending champions, Hearts of Oak in week four of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.
The 22-year-old, who was adjudged the MVP of the match, believes the return of Thomas Duah played a key role in their victory.
“We have now played four matches but our coach [Ernest Thompson] was sacked.
“He [Thomas Duah] was once our coach so he made aware that even though we lost against King Faisal 2-0, so we were determined to claim all three points against Hearts of Oak so that we can move up the league log,” Kwadwo Amoako said.
“We have been here [with Thomas Duah] for long, he has coached us for longer than the one who left us [Ernest Thompson].
“So we listen to whatever he says and we understand whatever he teaches in training that is what made us win 2-0,” Amoako said.
Thomas Duah was recalled to lead the four time Ghana Premier League champions following the sacking of Ernest Thompson.
The former Ebusua Dwarfs coach was relieved of his duties after three games into the season which resulted in one win, a defeat and a draw.
On the victory against Hearts of Oak, Kwadwo Amoako says every club needs to prepare before meeting the 21 time Ghana league title holders.
“Hearts of Oak is a team that you need to prepare and be determined to face and that was what urged us to beat them.” Kwadwo Amoako added.
AshantiGold now have seven points from four games and will travel to the North against Real Tamale United in week five at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.
