Ex-Ghana international, Nii Odartey Lamptey must quickly turn things around for Elmina Sharks FC whose start in the ongoing season has lacked impression.
Sharks’ start to the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season saw a 1-1 draw against newly promoted side, Accra Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium in week one to sort of give them a glimmer hope moving into week two.
They were however whipped 3-1 at home in week two by Dreams FC who were coming to the Nduom Stadium from a 3-1 loss to leaders, Asante Kotoko in Accra.
Sharks will go on to lose for the second time to Bechem United in the third week at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park – sending signals of weakness in the squad.
Odartey Lamptey’s side however picked themselves up from the two straight defeats to claim their first win of the season. They defeated premier league entrants, Gold Stars 2-1 at the Nduom Stadium to go on four points from four matches.
They will next face Eleven Wonders at the Ohene Ameyaw Park in the fifth week and defender of the side, Ishmael Hammond says each remaining game will be treated like a cup final.
“We have won our first match of the season, with the rest of league matches, we are going to approach every game as a cup final to get all the needed points.” Ishmael Hammond told Elminasharksfc.
