On 1 March 2021, the board of Hearts of Oak announced that Samuel Boadu had signed a 3.5-year contract with the club, with the task of winning the Ghana Premier League in his first full season, and guiding the club into the CAF Champions League in the future.
Within 10 months, he achieved 50% of what he was tasked to do by winning the league. Hearts of Oak were 6th on the league table and were 6 points behind the league leaders; Kumasi Asante Kotoko when he was appointed. He masterminded their rise and subsequently won the league for them for the first time in 11 good years.

Why would anyone think of his sacking? Is it because he has been thrashed by the North Africans? He will somehow take some of the blame but you can’t entirely blame him.
The CAF Champions League is for the affluent teams now. How wealthy are our teams to compete with the big boys? Also, all the top players in our league have left for greener pastures. Samuel Boadu’s best midfielder (Benjamin Afutu) left for Egypt. The league’s top scorer ( Diawisie Taylor) also is playing in Egypt now, Kwame Peprah (King Faisal) and Samuel Boakye ( WAFA) were two of the most exciting players and also left for South Africa and Austria respectively. Ideally, champions normally strengthen their teams with the best players but due to financial constraints,
Hearts settled for economical and inexperienced talents and couldn’t afford any of these quality players. The only experienced player they signed was Gladson Awako from Accra Great Olympics but due to the reasons best known to the three parties, he didn’t take part in their African campaign.

It is total utter naiveness to call for Samuel Boadu’s sacking.
Hearts Board should trust Samuel Boadu and let him continue his good job though things are very difficult now.
After beating Kotoko in the winner takes clash last season, it’s been 7 good games spanning from last season in the league, no victory for them. They are lying on the bottom of the league log which is quite astonishing. However, they have 2 games in hand.
Continuity and consistency are very crucial for Hearts of Oak now. The fans should rally behind the team. Boadu is the right man for the job.
