1. King Faisal vs Elmina Sharks.
The awe-inspiring performance by youngster Zubairu Ibrahim against Kotoko was indescribable. His confidence is soaring now. That was a beautiful hattrick against the league leaders Kumasi Asante Kotoko. His name is now in the history books of our league. Will Elmina Sharks swallow Zubairu?
Elmina Sharks recorded their second victory of the season by beating Karela United by 2-1 in the Week 6 of the GPL. They will rely on Justice Mensah who scored a brace against Karela for inspiration against much confidence King Faisal at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.
The sharks have lost their last 2 away games and they have to play above themselves to even get a point against coach Nurudeen Amadu’s high flying King Faisal.
2. Eleven Wonders vs Dreams
How will Eleven Wonders cope with probably the most talented attacker in the league? Fatawu Ishahaku is a delight to watch. He is phenomenal. Try Tame Ishahaku, Ali Huzaf and Agyenim Boateng Mensah will step up. Dreams so far are the most entertaining side in the league. 25 goals produced in their 6 games so far. They have scored 13 (most goals) and conceded (12 most goals). Their attack is excellent but they are very poor defensively.
Eleven Wonders on the other hand are just sitting one place above the relegation zone and their head coach Nii Ordartey Lamptey finally resigned. With just a win so far, they should start picking up points.
3. Real Tamale United vs Medeama
Real Tamale United are enjoying life after a long absence in the top flight. The signing of David Sandan Abagna from Ashanti Gold was a massive coup. 6 goals in 6 games from a midfield position is scintillating. He has been a thorn in the flesh of defenders so far. The support from the home fans in their home games has been encouraging. 6th on the log, just 3 points separate them and the league leaders. A win can send them higher up the table.
Medeama has been poor on and off the pitch with some shocking decisions. They rested last weekend and should be fresh for this one. They have won just a game and are below their standard.
4. Aduana vs Accra Great Olympics
Aduana Stars last weekend made light work of WAFA. It was too easy against Guillermo Zaragosa’s WAFA. Aduana is climbing up the log thanks to 3 straight wins. 9 goals were scored in those three games and just 1 conceded. Coach Asare Bediako boasts of highly experienced players. Emmanuel Gyamfi, Yahaya Mohammed, Bright Adjei, Eric Kwakwa are all skilled players that can change a game at any time.
Dade Boys are lacking consistency and are winless in three. Annor Walker will be eager to see his side start winning again. Maxwell Nii Abbey Quaye is one player Aduana Stars should keep an eye on.
5. Legon Cities vs Berekum Chelsea
Berekum Chelsea has been better only than Hearts Of Oak. 17th on the log, they have scored just 2 goals in 6 games which is a massive concern for them.
They are missing Stephen Amankonak’s creativity. Their only victory so far was against King Faisal and can draw inspiration from that.
Legon Cities are struggling. Maxwell konadu will be under pressure because much is expected from him. They are winless in their last four games and have lost their last 2 home games.
6. Bibiani Gold Stars vs Bechem United
The Dun’s Park will be their weapon. Two wins in 3 games at home. Bibiani Gold Star’s only defeat at home was against Kotoko. They are playing against a side winless in their last 17 away games spanning from last season. Simply put, Bechem United is a bizarre side away from home. They only prove their mettle when they are at Bechem. Coach Mingle Ocansey Kasim and his lads should start upping their game away from home.
7. WAFA vs Ashgold
Dr Prosper Ogum’s departure to Kotoko so far is hurting WAFA. They used to be too good under him but are now showing signs of a bad team. Guillermo Zaragoza’s side is with just a win and has conceded a whopping 9 goals in 6 games. They have always been a difficult side at WAFA Park in Volta Region. Unbeaten in their 3 home games so far at home as anticipated. Justus Tortsutsey has scored in both of their last 2 games at home and Zaragoza will hope he will continue.
Ashgold is proving to be inconsistent. They are sitting 8th on the table haven recorded just 2 wins, one at Len Clay and another at Eleven Wonders. Their managerial hiring and firing lifestyle is impeding their progress. A very inconsistent season is ahead of them.
8. Karela vs Accra Lions
Their first-ever meeting in the Ghana Premier League. Accra Lions sacked their German manager Rainer Kraft after two years as their head coach. Assistant James Francis will serve as interim manager. Accra Lions are bad travellers. They have lost all their 3 away games. Scored just 2 goals and conceded 8. They are last on the away league standings. Salifu Rauf has been a revelation so far with 3 goals for Accra Lions.
They have to put up a better show in their away games else they will be in trouble. You cannot rely only on your home games.
Karela at CAM Stadium is a different side.
They were the first team to take a point from Kotoko and will be confident ahead of this home fixture. They have scored 5 goals
and have had 5 different scorers.
They will surely miss Diawisie Taylor.
