Accra Hearts of Oak striker, Kofi Kodzi has been left sounding philosophical after the club’s disastrous bow out of the 2021/22 CAF Confederation Cup.
The 26-year-old played five matches in both the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup, scoring just a goal which came against Guinean side, Club Industriel de Kamsar in the first leg preliminary stage of the CAF Champions League.
The burly striker went on to fire blanks against Morocco giants, Wydad Athletic Club in the second preliminary qualifiers where the Phobians suffered a 6-2 drubbing over the two legs – a 1-0 win in Accra and a 6-1 humiliation in Casablanca.
The defeat sent them down to the CAF Confederation Cup – setting them up against Algeria outfit, Jeunesse Sportive de Saoura.
Kofi Kordzi was not on the score sheet as Salifu Ibrahim and Isaac Agyenim Boateng gave the Phobians a 2-0 advantage moving into the second leg in Béchar.
The reverse fixture turned out to be another horrible North African journey for the 2000 CAF Champions League winners after a 4-0 loss to finish the two legs at 4-2 for JS Saoura.
Kofi Kordzi’s tweet speaks volumes of how hard they have been hit by their abysmal performance of which he promises to make amends.
The former Royal FC and Al Muaither striker has equally not done much in the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League where Hearts of Oak have managed just three opening draws and a defeat.
Kordzi has scored twice out of four matches in their 1-1 draw each against West Africa Football Academy in week two and Aduana Stars in week three in Sogakope and Accra respectively.
Hearts of Oak have returned from Algeria and will next face Elmina Sharks in week eight at the Nduom Stadium on Wednesday, December 15.
They have three outstanding games against Berekum Chelsea, Medeama and Asante Kotoko in weeks five, six and seven.
