Defending league champions, Hearts of Oak confirmed premier league new boys, Accra Lions to another defeat in a space of four days but this time in the MTN FA Cup.
The Phobians were guests of Accra Lions in round 64 of the FA Cup at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman on Wednesday.
Prior to the round 64 clash, Hearts of Oak had nailed their city neighbors 2-0 in week nine of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League at the Cape Coast Stadium.
The toast of the fans was however Carl Reindorf home boy, Frederick Ansah Botchway who marshaled the midfield with great finesse.
It never took long for the Phobians to shoot their noses in front due to their swift start to action.
Creative forward, Ibrahim Salifu found the opener on the 22nd minute following a through pass by Isaac Mensah who battled to win possession.

The resumption of the second half started with the visitors still enjoying lion share of possession with goalkeeper Richmond Ayi virtually on holidays.
The former WAFA shot stopper was however tested on the 50th minute when he punched away Joseph Addo’s well struck free kick.
Substitute, Daniel Awuni almost pulled level for Accra Lions when he raced past Fatawu Mohammed but the Phobians were saved by the post on the 66th minute.
The introduction of Daniel Awuni brought a lot of bite into Accra Lions’ attack which awaken the Phobians’ defence.
Richmond Ayi kept the Phobians in the game when he palmed into corner kick a ferocious poke by Kelvin Kyei on the 70th minute.
Accra Lions could have gone down by 2-0 on the 76th minute but goalkeeper Appiah Kubi saved Gladson Awako’s fine strike for the Phobians corner kick which was eventually cleared by the hosts.
Accra Lions will call for a penalty on the 88th minute after Caleb Amankwah was adjudged to have handled the ball but the officials will take none of those calls.
Referee Charles Bulu will whistle for the end of the game with Hearts of Oak qualifying for the round 32 of the competition.
