Asante Kotoko head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum has explained reasons behind goalkeeper Razak Abalora’s relegation to the bench in the FA Cup exit and the week 11 clash at Aduana Stars.
The former Azam FC goalkeeper was on the bench for CAF U-20 AFCON winner, Danland Ibrahim when Kotoko lost 1-0 to neighbors, King Faisal to exit the MTN FA Cup in round 64 at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Danlad had his first shot at the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League when coach Prosper Narteh opted him ahead of Razak Abalora against Aduana Stars in Dormaa.
Clean sheet was recorded in their historic 2-0 win – breaking the over a decade scoring drought at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Saturday.
Prosper Narteh said: “I think they are all good quality players, we have Danlad [Ibrahim], we have Abalora [Razak], we have Kwame Baah.
“These are national team goalkeepers, they are very good when they are in the post.
“So anyone can be in the post at any point in time. I think we decided per what happened at training this week to give Danlad the opportunity in the FA Cup and what he did too we decided to continue with it.
“So that we are able to build and keep his confidence in the game. We don’t want to lose any of our goalkeepers.” Prosper Narteh Ogum said.
Prosper Narteh becomes the first coach to beat Aduana Stars at the dreaded Agyemang Badu Park for the first since 2010.
The Porcupine Warriors will jump into the top of the league log with 23 points and a week seven outstanding game against Hearts of Oak to clear.
