Michael Osei’s signature on premier league new boys, Gold Stars has shown the stuff the ex-Ghana international is made of in terms coaching.
Osei, who has been through the coaching mill, has transformed the Bibiani based club into what can be termed as “tough nuts” in the Ghana Premier League.
Having served as an assistant to Anthony Commeh at now Division One club, New Edubiase during the Premier League days, Osei rose through the ranks steadily into bigger and substantive roles.
His work has taken him to former club and current league leaders, Asante Kotoko both in an assistant capacity and on interim basis.
He went on to head Liberty Professionals while in the premier league and Division One club, Star Madrid after leaving the Scientific Soccer Lads on mutual basis.
The 50-year-old has led his side to quite an ok debut campaign so far in the 2021/22 season – raking four wins, a draw and seven defeats.
They lost 1-0 in week 12 to defending champions, Hearts of Oak at the Duns Park and Michael was left unhappy.
“I will not use the word disappointed but I feel for the playing body because they played very well, they did their best.
“It was very unfortunate, very unfortunate. This is the game I mean we shouldn’t have lost but that’s football, it’s a very strange game.
“Sometimes such results happen and you cannot understand but we have to move on and see the next game,” Michael Osei told StarTimes.
I will say in the second half of the game, Hearts of Oak were very compact, they were sitting back, I mean you can see that everybody was moving.
“It was making it very difficult to penetrate but all the same I think we still did our best but it wasn’t enough so we have to put that aside and then move on and see the next game.” Michael Osei said.
They lie 12th with 13 points and the former Ukwawu United midfielder will lead his side away up North against returnees, Real Tamale United in week 13.
