King Faisal finished the first round of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League with a defeat at Legon Cities FC on Monday.

The “Insha Allah” boys, who started the season in a blistering form, saw their fireworks doused midway into the season with some questionable losses.

They traveled down south as guests of the Royals at the El Wak Sports Stadium but the journey will be what they want to quickly forget and forge into the second round following a slim loss.

After holding their guns throughout the first half, King Faisal let go off their resolve to allow Legon Cities find the back of the net.

Experienced striker, Hans Kwoffie was let loose with defenders caught ball watching in King Faisal’s goal area; he will locate Jonah Attuquaye with a perfect cross to fetch the winner with 61 minutes played.

The remaining 29 minutes plus added time did not bring any more goals with King Faisal returning to Kumasi with a 1-0 loss.

Coach Nurudeen Amadu was impressed with his side despite the defeat and wants to pick up the pieces and forge into the second round.

“I’m very impressed with their performance, we played well even though the pitch is not that good.

“We still played to tactical instructions but is only that they got the winner but impressed with my boys and they did well. “The way I told them to play, they played exactly that, tactically.

“Football, you make one mistake and you are punished for it, I think we could have got an equalizer but we threw it away like against Hearts of Oak.

“So these things do happen but I’m fine and I think that we are impressive so we will pick it up in the second round.” Nurudeen Amadu told StarTimes.

King Faisal currently sit 5th on the league log with 26 points after the first round of matches. They have won 8 games, drawn twice and lost as many as 7 games for a club considered title contenders this term.
