Hearts of Oak left back, Dennis Korsah has admitted that they need to work hard to catch up with rivals and league leaders, Asante Kotoko.

The club’s latest capture from now relegated Ebusua Dwarfs has enjoyed a good start to his tenure with the Phobians – claiming an MVP in two games.

His best outing which culminated in the first “Man-of-the-match” award in Hearts of Oak shirt, came in the goalless draw against rivals, Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium in the week seven outstanding fixture.

The 25-year-old prior to the bright display against the record Ghana Premier League holders, had a debut to forget in the club’s 1-0 loss to city rivals, Great Olympics in the “Ga Mashie” derby in Accra.

Hearts of Oak trail their rivals by 12 points after the first round of games and the University of Cape Coast graduate says they need to up their performance to bridge the points gap. “Kotoko have been good from the beginning of the season. They’ve built themselves to some level which teams find it difficult to beat them,” Korsah told OTEC FM.

“They (Kotoko) are doing well, just that we (Hearts) need to up our game and push ourselves to the top.” He added

The Phobians, 21 time Ghana champions have 25 points from six wins, seven draws and four losses in the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.

They will kick start their second round campaign away to Legon Cities FC later in February.

Hearts of Oak have a daunting task as the defence of the league and FA Cup titles from last season lingers on their minds.
