Hearts of Oak midfielder, Salim Adams says the squad needs consistency in winning games to keep chase on rivals, Asante Kotoko.
The task looks mountainous for the Phobians who are 14 points behind their rivals after 18 matches.
Kotoko sit top of the league log with 40 points with defending champions, Hearts of Oak down in 7th with 26 points.
Their rivalry will come alive once more when they clash in the 2022 President Cup on Friday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Salim Adams, who joined Hearts from second tier side, New Edubiase, believes the title defence is not quashed yet.
“The league title is still within our grasp, definitely. We know we’ve got the players capable of getting there, and we know we can put in the performances needed,” Salim Adams told Phobianews.com.
“It’s just a case of being able to do it consistently, which we haven’t done all season so we’re going to have to change and we’re going to have to improve.
Hopefully we can do that and find ourselves there come the end of the season.” He added.
Hearts of Oak have earned just six points from their last five matches of the season – winning once, losing another and drawing three times.
Their week 19 fixture is a home game against strugglers, West Africa Football Academy on Wednesday, March 9.
