Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Prosper Narteh Ogum has defended striker, Franck Mbella’s away goal drought in the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.
The Cameroonian import is the current leading scorer on the chart with 13 goals but has not scored an away goal since match day nine.
He fired blanks when Bechem United held Kotoko to a goalless draw in week 19 at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Tuesday.
Prosper Narteh Ogum is not moved by such a poor away record for a striker who has been prolific in home games.
“He scored two on the road, there are some strikers who have not scored a single goal. “So it’s not a worry to me. He is the leading marksman and you think it should be a worry to me?
“It doesn’t matter, once he is scoring he is scoring, every goal is a goal whether home or away is a goal, that is it.” Prosper Narteh Ogum defended.
Asante Kotoko are chasing their first league title in eight seasons and will fancy it this term as they lead the table with 41 points – eight more than second place Aduana Stars after 19 matches.
Kotoko will host Bibiani Gold Stars, a side they defeated 1-0 in the first round in week 20 on Saturday, March 12.
