Head coach of Bibiani Gold Stars, Michael Osei wants to upset league leaders, Asante Kotoko on Sunday.
Osei, who once played and coached Kotoko, will lead the debutants against the record premier league holders at the Baba Yara Stadium in week 20 at 6:00 pm.
Osei said: “I’m very happy going back to Kumasi with Gold Stars. Since I left Kotoko in 2016, I’ve played against Kotoko twice but none of them has been at their home ground [Baba Yara Sports Stadium],” Osei told his club’s media, as quoted by AshesGyamera.com.
“So I’m very excited to have the opportunity to face them for the first time in Kumasi.
“I have won once against Kotoko since leaving them with Liberty Professionals as well as losing one with Gold Stars in the first round in Bibiani. The defeat was a very painful one.
“Kotoko are at the top [of the Premier League log] at the moment and have good form but my team is also in a good shape and we’ve been consistent with our performance.
“Maybe the away performance hasn’t been good but all the same I’m happy with our play so I know definitely that it will be an interesting game.”
The first round meeting between the two clubs ended 1-0 in favour of the Porcupine Warriors at the Duns Park in Bibiani with Isaac Oppong sweeping in the only goal.
Gold Stars have had a roller coaster start to their top flight debut – amassing seven wins, two draws and 10 losses in a 23 points build up on 13th spot.
