Fitness concerns rock Super Eagles camp ahead of Ghana clash

Nigeria are sweating over the fitness of former Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo ahead of a 2022 World Cup playoff match with regional rivals Ghana next week, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The CD Leganes star is struggling to overcome an adductor issue, five days before the players summoned for the matches against the Black Stars are expected to report for international duty.
Omeruo was shown his fifth yellow card of the season against Real Zaragoza on February 11, leading to his suspension for the following game with SD Amorebieta.
The Super Eagles center back has not been listed in the matchday squad for the last three Laliga 2 matches played by Leganes, against Girona, CD Mirandés and UD Ibiza due to the ailment.
There are serious doubts over whether he will be able to recover in time to face Ghana not to speak of his match fitness, with Leganes having just one match to play before the international break this month.
Omeruo partnered William Troost-Ekong at the heart of the Super Eagles defence during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Alanyaspor’s Chidozie Awaziem is the only central defender named on the standby list for the crucial matches with Ghana.
