The camp of former Ghana youth international, Najeeb Yakubu has admitted to Niger national team’s interest in the right-back but states that the player has no desire in representing the West African nation.
The news was earlier reported by Ghanasoccernet.com of Niger naming Yakubu in their squad for two international friendlies against Mozambique and Libya later this month.

However, speaking on condition of anonymity, a leading member of Yakubu’s representatives tells Africa-foot.com that the 21-year-old has no plans of featuring for the Menas.
Moreover, the utility player is not available for any international duties due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine where Yakubu plays for top flight side, Vorskla Poltava.
Najeeb Yakubu has represented Ghana at the U-17 level where he performed creditably at the World junior tournament in India 2017.
The former UniStar Academy and New Town Youth defender is yet to taste full senior cap with the Black Stars having last year shown interest in playing for the Ukrainian national team.
He has played 16 times with no goals and assists for Vorskla this season before Russia’s invasion forced sporting activities to be halted in Ukraine.
