Departing coach of Berekum Chelsea, Rui Gregorio has congratulated Ghana for qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars booked one of Africa’s five slots in Qatar later this year after an away goal advantage against rivals, Nigeria.
The first leg clash of the qualifiers ended goalless at the Baba Yara Stadium on March 25 with the reverse fixture producing a 1-1 score line at the Moshood Abiola Stadium four days later.
Rui Gregorio, whose native Portugal has also qualified for the global festival, has parted the Black Stars at the back for the grand feat.
“One more thing, congratulations to Ghana for [qualifying to the] World Cup.
“Only five countries in Africa are there and we are one of the five in 54 countries.” Rui Gregorio told StarTimes.
The Black Stars will be making their fourth appearance after the 2006, 2010 and the 2014 editions in Germany, South Africa and Brazil respectively.
Nigeria’s chance to make it a fourth consecutive appearance hit the rocks after that heartbreaking result against Ghana.
