Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen announced his return from international duty on Sunday when he scored in Napoli’s 3-2 home loss to Fiorentina.
The 23-year-old was in Napoli’s match day squad for full time but it was the visitors who struck first on the 29th minute when Nicolas Gonzalez’ hit rattled the upright before sweeping the roof of the net.
An energized Napoli drew level in second half when Osimhen’s assist saw substitute, Dries Mertens drill a low strike on the 58th minutes.
Fiorentina will push harder which resulted in their second and first in Serie A goal from substitute, Jonathan Ikone on the 66th minutes.
Arthur Cabral tripled the score for Fiorentina six minutes after Ikone had doubled the lead when he dummied a defender to curl one into the far right hand corner.
It was the turn of Osimhen who notched Napoli’s second goal on the 84th minute with a thunderbolt after controlling Mario Rui’s pass with his chest but that will not be enough as it ended 3-2 after full time for Fiorentina.
The defeat leaves Napoli still in the champions league spot on 3rd with 66 points from 32 games.
Victor Osimhen’s goal is his 12th in 21 Serie A games and 26 in all competitions.
