Asante Kotoko’s quest to stretch their lead on top of the 2021/22 league table was given a jolt for the second time by Legon Cities FC.
The Porcupine Warriors were beaten 3-1 by the Royals in week 26 at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday after suffering a 2-1 loss against RTU the week prior in Tamale.
Hans Kwoffie’s brace plus Michel Otou’s 17th minute penalty, left Kotoko with Salifu Mudasiru’s consolation to take home.
Legon Cities coach, Maxwell Konadu talks about his side’s victory.
“Our job speaks for us, I mean when you have a small team like Legon Cities, you don’t need to talk too much before the big games.
“It’s a team I respect so much, it’s a club I love so much, it’s a club I know so well and steadied so well before we came here.
“I think that made the trick for us,” Maxwell Konadu said at a post match press conference.
“We’ve been working so hard, we were struggling at the beginning of the season. As and when the season was progressing, our game was also improving.
“But there have been a change of system, we’ve adopted the 4-4-2 now and we are playing it so well.
“It’s working for us so I think we will continue to use it until we get the much needed results that we want.
“The system is helping our players to get the best out of them. The players are really working hard.” He added.
It was payback time for Maxwell Konadu who was dismissed by the Nana Yaw Amponsah led management.
Legon Cities equally lost 2-1 to Asante Kotoko in the first round at the El Wak Sports Stadium last year.
