Asante Kotoko have suffered back-to-back defeats in their last two games, much to the chagrin of the teeming supporters.
Week 25 came via a 2-1 defeat at the Aliu Mahama Stadium against returnees, Real Tamale United before receiving a 3-1 thumping at the Baba Yara Stadium from Legon Cities FC the following week.
The two losses has left fans asking questions about the commitment of the players but head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum says it is just not time to have doubts about the squad.
“It [defeats] shouldn’t take away the beliefs in their hearts.
“They should still believe in the team, I mean if you look at the way the team has played up to this level, it’s not because of this defeat that they have to stay away from the team.
“It is rather at this crucial time that we need them the most.
“We need them to be around the team to encourage us to bounce back.
“That is the most important thing. If you show signs of disbelief in the team, if you stay away from the team, you say things that are unpleasant about the players and the team, that will rather not be good for the team.
“So I will plead with them to get closer to the team, support the team, encourage the team and make sure that we can always feel in our hearts and in our minds that we have them behind us.
“I think once they are able to do that, this is Kumasi Asante Kotoko, we can easily bounce back.” Prosper Narteh Ogum told StarTimes.
The double losses notwithstanding, still keeps the record league holders on top of the table with 52 points – eight better than second placed Bechem United who host Karela United on Monday.
